Therapy is for everyone. Music therapy may be a good fit if you love music, find it motivating, and think that a creative outlet would be beneficial for your therapeutic journey.
The goal of therapy is never to “fix” someone.
Meeting clients where they are at is an important part of building a strong therapeutic relationship and non-judgemental space where clients can freely express themselves.
In a space to explore healthy and caring relationships with the body without societal pressures.
In being compassionate and supportive with my clients throughout the therapeutic process.

IN MY SESSIONs I LIKE TO:
Create a comfortable and safe environment for self-expression. There may sometimes be tears or uncomfortable silence, and that’s all okay.
Get to know you: what TV shows and movies you like, your favorite sports teams, or what you enjoy in your free time!
Involve you in decision making, including creating music therapy goals, session plans, and what music to use. I will follow your lead!
Engage in active music-making (including singing, playing instruments)
Utilize songwriting

My name is Emma and I am a white, queer, fat-positive, cisgender female who uses she/her pronouns. I attended Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania for my undergraduate degree, and the University of Kentucky for my master’s degree. I love spending time with family, friends, and my cats. Outside of work I enjoy reading a good book, watching new TV shows and movies, singing in my car, and learning new cooking recipes!

When practicing music therapy, I use a person-centered approach, with a feminist perspective and cultural humility focus. I aim to consider the whole person when creating and working on goals. I continue to stay educated on cultural sensitivity practices, and consistently reflect upon my own practice.
