  • Therapy is for everyone. Music therapy may be a good fit if you love music, find it motivating, and think that a creative outlet would be beneficial for your therapeutic journey.

  • The goal of therapy is never to “fix” someone.

  • Meeting clients where they are at is an important part of building a strong therapeutic relationship and non-judgemental space where clients can freely express themselves.

  • In a space to explore healthy and caring relationships with the body without societal pressures.

  • In being compassionate and supportive with my clients throughout the therapeutic process.

IN MY SESSIONs I LIKE TO:

  • Create a comfortable and safe environment for self-expression. There may sometimes be tears or uncomfortable silence, and that’s all okay.

  • Get to know you: what TV shows and movies you like, your favorite sports teams, or what you enjoy in your free time!

  • Involve you in decision making, including creating music therapy goals, session plans, and what music to use. I will follow your lead!

  • Engage in active music-making (including singing, playing instruments)

  • Utilize songwriting

  • My name is Emma and I am a white, queer, fat-positive, cisgender female who uses she/her pronouns. I attended Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania for my undergraduate degree, and the University of Kentucky for my master’s degree. I love spending time with family, friends, and my cats. Outside of work I enjoy reading a good book, watching new TV shows and movies, singing in my car, and learning new cooking recipes!

  • LPMT: Licensed Professional Music Therapist (Maryland)

MM: Master of Music in Music Therapy

  • When practicing music therapy, I use a person-centered approach, with a feminist perspective and cultural humility focus. I aim to consider the whole person when creating and working on goals. I continue to stay educated on cultural sensitivity practices, and consistently reflect upon my own practice.
